Is this a learning and/or behavior problem due to an undiagnosed disability or is it due to the student's limited English language proficiency or cultural differences? This webinar will address specific issues in assessment and what to consider when separating difference from disability with ELs. You will develop your detective skills and learn how to distinguish learning and behavior problems due to difference from those due to disability and when to consider a referral for a psychoeducational assessment. Evidence based strategies will also be discussed specifically targeting the needs of ELs who are also diverse learners.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. How to distinguish learning and behavior problems due to difference from those due to disability
  2. Key considerations and constraints  when referring and assessing ELs
  3. How to use assessment to guide program planning
