TARGET AUDIENCE: PRE-SCHOOL TEACHERS AND EDUCATORS GRADES 1-3 ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND

Snow, ice, wind, brilliant blue skies, chinooks, sun and cold are all amazing learning and play opportunities! During these two sessions we will explore what it can look like to fully engage with winter in your schoolyard and nearby community sites. This series will be one full day and a second half day a month later and would fit best with preschool-grade 3 teachers and educators.

In the first, full day session, we will:

  • Directly experience outdoor play
  • Consider curiosity triggers, provocations and loose parts that support learning outdoors
  • Tie outdoor play directly to new curriculum and student competencies
  • Plan how to incorporate outdoor play experiences into your teaching.

In the second, half day session we will:

  • Share your successes and challenges implementing your plan from session 1
  • Problem solve with your colleagues
  • Identify resources and next steps you need to continue incorporating outdoor play into your teaching.

This learning opportunity is being offered through curriculum implementation funding from Alberta Education.
