TARGET AUDIENCE: K-12 TEACHERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND
Have you ever tried to spell a word you’ve written over a hundred times and cannot seem to picture it in your mind? Join us for a session designated to the power of symbol imagery and its connection to spelling. Learn the steps to developing your students’ use of imagery to assist learning. To complement this method, we will explore a research based technique to improve student’s awareness of how to spell words correctly and flex/self correct spelling within their written work.
This learning opportunity is being offered through curriculum implementation funding from Alberta Education.
Kim Tackaberryis a Designer of Professional Learning with the Calgary Regional Consortium. Her areas of focus include literacy and inclusive education. Kim’s teaching career spans over 28 years, ten as a classroom teacher at Foothills Academy Society, a school specializing in children with Learning Disabilities and ADHD. Kim has designed several e-learning courses for teachers, titles include Learning Disabilities and Introduction to Literacy and Numeracy Progressions. She is passionate about coaching educators, particularly when they are focused on supporting struggling readers. Apart from the Founder, Dr. Rick Freeze, she is the sole Precision Reading presenter in North America.
