ALL GRADE 3-12 TEACHERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND

This one day interactive workshop is a unique opportunity for primary and secondary school teachers across all subject disciplines to build a critical understanding of global citizenship.  Weaving together theoretical reflections on global citizenship, stories from classrooms, and practical strategies and resources for teachers and school leaders, workshop participants will develop an informed and active role as global citizenship educators whose work will benefit both their students and our society.

Participants will

  • Acquire knowledge, skills and dispositions associated with the competency ‘Cultural and Global Citizenship’
  • Discuss the threads that connect this competency to the others identified by Alberta Education, as well as the integration of global citizenship cross subject areas.
  • Collaboate with colleagues through sharing examples and practical strategies from classrooms
  • Explore various resources, tools, and programs offered by Alberta community-based organizations which help students build a deeper understanding of issues and take meaningful action.

This opportunity is presented in partnership with the Alberta Council for Global Cooperation (ACGC). For information and teacher resources, visit www.acgc.ca

This learning opportunity is being offered through curriculum implementation funding from Alberta Education.
